Yang Chao, PhD, is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Beihang University and a nominee of China’s Top Ten Outstanding Young Designers. He was awarded the DAAD Artist Scholarship and studied at the Braunschweig University of Art in Germany, and has served as a Visiting Research Fellow at Aalto University in Finland. He has led and completed major research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and the National Arts Fund of China. His design works have received numerous prestigious international and domestic awards, including multiple honors from the world’s three major design awards, most notably two Red Dot Awards: Best of the Best (Germany), as well as multiple iF Design Awards (Germany), A’ Design Award Gold Awards (Italy), and the Great Wall Advertising Award of China. He has served as a juror for prominent international and domestic competitions, including the A’ Design Award (Italy), the Oświęcim Political Poster Exhibition (Poland), and the Golden Turtle Award (Russia). Working across the roles of brand consultant and art consultant, Yang Chao has led comprehensive projects encompassing brand narrative, visual identity, wayfinding systems, and art design for international brands and institutions, including Marriott International’s Autograph Collection Bali and The Luxury Collection Chongqing, customized art gift design for Ant Group (Ant Financial), and the brand identity design for Impression West Lake, which was selected by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of China as a model case of brand building for state-owned enterprises. He has also designed exclusive commemorative gifts for the China–Australia 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Cultural Exchange Program organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Australia, environmental ceramic art installations for the lobby of Beijing International Club affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and the “State Gift Blue-and-White Porcelain” furniture collection for KUKA Home, which has been permanently collected by the Paris Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.
